New York – Fly TWA by David Klein (1970) is a vibrant celebration of jet‑age optimism and the irresistible pull of America’s marquee city. A master of mid‑century poster design, Klein fills the composition with bold, graphic symbolism—anchored by the Statue of Liberty—so that the promise of arrival feels immediate and exhilarating. Inflected with Pop Art sensibilities, the scene compresses familiar skyline silhouettes and theatrical energy into a single, irresistible call to travel: fly to New York.

Offered by The Unique Maps Co. as a museum‑quality fine art print on your choice of acid‑free archival paper or artist’s cotton canvas, this piece is produced to exacting standards for color and detail. Multiple sizes are available, with optional professional framing and matting. Personalization and customization—such as a printed inscription, a commemorative date, or bespoke sizing—are happily accommodated to help you create a piece tailored to your space or gift recipient.

David Klein was an American artist whose career bridged fine art and commercial illustration with unusual fluency. Born in El Paso in 1918 and trained in Los Angeles, he came to prominence through theater and film illustration before serving the United States Army during World War II. His postwar trajectory—recognized by the Air Force Art Collection and periodic museum exhibitions—led to his most enduring legacy: the luminous travel images he created for Trans World Airlines in the 1950s and 1960s, a visual language that defined the glamour of mid‑century flight.

This New York poster distills the city’s allure into a handful of instantly legible forms: the torch-bearing Liberty at center, soaring skyscrapers recalling icons such as the Empire State Building, and a sleek aircraft that vaults across the scene to connect viewer and destination. Beyond advertising, it is a cultural artifact—evidence of how airlines and artists collaborated to sell not only tickets, but a modern, mobile lifestyle at the height of commercial aviation’s expansion.

The color story is a showstopper: a radiant field of orange sets a warm stage, counterbalanced by saturated purples and vivid blues that lend depth without sacrificing Klein’s crisp, flat graphic technique. Clean, decisive edges, simplified silhouettes, and subtle gradients amplify legibility from across a room. The result is a poster that feels at once historical and fresh—equally at home in a mid‑century interior, a contemporary loft, or a light-filled office—making it an eye‑catching focal point and conversation starter for anyone who loves New York.

A timeless gift for New York enthusiasts and frequent flyers alike, this print is perfect for commemorating a recent trip, celebrating a new home or office, or marking occasions such as Christmas, birthdays, Father’s Day, or Mother’s Day. Whether you’re welcoming someone home from the city or inspiring their next adventure, Klein’s New York – Fly TWA brings the spirit of the skyline to any wall.
