Norway – the Land of the Midnight Sun by Arent Lauritz Christensen captures the luminous drama of Norway’s fjords and summer skies during the golden age of European poster art. Rendered in an Art Nouveau spirit with flowing lines and elegant simplification, the scene sets cool blue water and deep green pines against warm, rosy mountain faces, evoking the unending glow of northern light. Bold, confident typography anchors the composition with NORWAY as a proud invitation to explore a landscape both rugged and sublime.

This museum-quality fine art print is produced by The Unique Maps Co. on your choice of acid-free archival paper or luxurious artist’s cotton canvas. Available in a range of sizes, it can be ordered unframed or expertly framed and ready to hang. We also offer thoughtful customization, including size adjustments, border and caption options, personalized dedication inscriptions, and bespoke framing treatments to suit your space.

Little is recorded about Arent Lauritz Christensen, yet the graphic sensibility of this work points to a Norwegian illustrator active in the early decades of the 20th century, when poster art flourished across Scandinavia. The balance of stylized landscape with crisp lettering suggests an artist attuned to both the romance of travel and the clarity required for effective commercial design—an appealing blend that still feels fresh today.

The poster’s subject is Norway itself: fjord country sculpted by ice and time, evergreen forests, and the famed midnight sun that shines above the Arctic Circle in high summer. At a moment when European tourism was rapidly expanding, images like this helped define Norway’s identity abroad—majestic, elemental, and irresistibly scenic. Displayed in a home or office, it speaks to adventure, coastal voyages, and the magnetic pull of the North.

Design lovers will appreciate the palette—greens and blues tempered by beige and warm pink undertones—that conveys crisp air and crystalline water while adding interior-friendly harmony. Angular peaks contrast with curving shorelines and treetops, and the broad, painterly strokes give texture without clutter. The modern block lettering delivers a striking graphic punch, making the print both a destination portrait and a timeless piece of wall art. It’s ideal for anyone who has sailed the fjords, chased summer light in the far north, or simply dreams of Norway’s serene grandeur.

A thoughtful gift for travel enthusiasts and Nordics-at-heart, this print is perfect for Christmas, birthdays, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, housewarmings, or welcoming home someone who has just returned from Norway—especially those who have experienced the wonder of the midnight sun.
